Description
Chicago comes alive at night with the hustle and bustle of activity in this upscale shopping district along North Michigan Avenue. A tourist mecca, the central draw is the historic Chicago Water Tower, one of the few remaining structures to have survived the great 1871 Chicago Fire. Today, surrounded by modern day skyscrapers, the Water Tower was built in 1869 using limestone from nearby Joliet, Illinois. Within the Water Tower�s castle-like style hides a 138 foot standpipe which was used to help regulate water pressure in the city.
