Opened to traffic in 1909, the Manhattan suspension bridge connects New York City’s boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn as it crosses the East River. The bridge features two decks, with the upper level carrying four lanes of traffic, while the lower level includes three vehicle lanes, four subway tracks, a walkway, and bicycle path.
