Description
One of the most important sites in the foundation of the United States government, it was here that the first capitol building of the United States once stood, George Washington was inaugurated as the first President of the United States, and the Bill of Rights were introduced. The current building was built in 1842 and is now operated by the National Park Service as a national memorial commemorating the historic events that occurred there.
