The log buildings outside of Mann's Mercantile were built in Telemark, Norway and transported to Washington Island in 1989. For more than a month, hardworking Norwegian craftsman painstakingly reassembled the buildings which honor the rich Scandinavian heritage of early immigrants to the island.
