On a clear starry night, the Milky Way is seen high above Cana Island Lighthouse. Casting its light eighteen miles above the dark and treacherous waters of Lake Michigan, the lighthouse has been guiding and protecting sailors from the dangerous shoals that surround the Door County coastline since 1870.
